Commentary on Karegeya's Assassination. In Solidarity with Gazans.

Featured Guest(s):
Eva Bartlett,

The first half of the program deals with the assassination in South Africa of the late Colonel Patrick Karegeya by the Rwandan government of Paul Kagame. Disillusioned with the Rwandan regime of Paul Kagame, the self-exiled Colonel Karegeya indicated that it was Kagame himself who ordered the shooting down of the airplane carrying two African heads of state, the former (Hutu) presidents of Rwanda and Burundi, plus the (Hutu) chief of staff of the Rwandan army. Those assassinations were the signal for Paul Kagame’s (Tutsi) RPF to launch the final attack on the government of Rwanda which led to terrible massacres inside Rwanda.

Phil interviews Eva Bartlett, who worked with Gazan farmers, fishers, and schoolchildren in the face of naked aggression by the Israeli occupational forces. Ms. Bartlett maintains the blog ingaza.wordpress.com and lectures extensively on the illegal Israeli blockade of Gaza across North America

The Assassination of Col. Karegeya. Myths about the Soviet Union

Featured Guest(s):
Dr. Theogene Rudasingwa, Stephen Gowans,

Former Rwandan intelligence chief Col. Patrick Karegeya was apparently strangled to death in a hotel room in Johannesburg on New Years' Eve. Colonel Karegeya, a refugee in South Africa, had condemned the authoritarian regime of Paul Kagame. Other prominent critics of Kagame have been killed in recent years. Phil speaks with Dr. Theogene Rudasingwa, who was a close colleague of Karegeya.

In Western media, it is commonly claimed that the Soviet Union didn't prove out, that it was inferior, and people are much happier now. But that's not really the case. Stephen Gowans dissects several myths about the Soviet Union, and he's not afraid to take on other issues as well: why is it now acceptable to celebrate Nelson Mandela, but not Robert Mugabe?
